Po-Mo

Postmodernism, according to an article from Colorado University, "doesn't lament the idea of framentation, provisionality, or incoherence, [as modenism did] but rather celebrates that. The world is meaningless? Let's not pretend that art can make meaning then, let's just play with nonsense." What is the point? There is no point. Is that, perhaps, why the western society blogs, facebooks, and xangas themselves into a time-wasting frenzy? (How did these words even become verbs in the first place?!) I (obviously) am quite guilty.

In this postmodern form of communication we have made use of the buzzword "community" which, by definition, brings with it a sense of belonging. In belonging, we hail the idea of finding meaning, not meaninglessness. Can we have true community in a context where we worship pointlessness?

The discontinuity baffles. Yet I, myself, have been sucked in by the contradiction. In deciding to play with nonsense I write for no one...

The life of the Old Testament Hebrew was community. The entire point was to be within the body for one purpose: the worship of God. The people as a whole had one common goal in mind: to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. The interesting thing was that when this community was broken with the Lord (hearts NOT fully devoted to God) fellowship was broken with the people.

Created for a purpose. When we live for that purpose is when we truly commune.

Go

I do not begin this blog as anything I really need people to read. It's not really that interesting. I am not quite the interesting person I would like to be and I am filled with shortcomings. I have several goals in beginning this blog.

1. I want to find a way to express myself without using personal pronouns to excess.
2. The journaling process sometimes takes time that defeats the purpose of using it to process. I hope to get my thoughts out in some way that may help me grow as a thinker in some accountable way.
